Hi,
I have oracle 11gR2 with ASM running on AIX and we have RMAN backup running but at times the archiver space is getting filled up, before removing it I want to check whether those archivelogs are being backed up or not and then remove them, if they are already backed up then I want to sync with the RMAN catalog, can someone tell me the steps and commands involved in this process?
Thanks

What/how is doing the backup of the archived redo logfiles?
How does Oracle/RMAN know about this independent process & activity?

Is there a problem with managing the space with RMAN? A command such as
backup archivelog all delete all input;

is all you need, schedule it to run every hour perhaps.
